Leonardo DiCaprio Is the Latest Rumored Steve Jobs

Out with the Bale, in the with the Leo?

The Hollywood Reporter is saying that the actor/director duo that Sony may snag for the upcoming Steve Jobs biopic is none other than Leonardo DiCaprio and Danny Boyle, the same team that brought you the movie The Beach back in 2000. This new high-powered combination would replace that previously rumored pairing–Christian Bale and David Fincher.

THR says that Sony Pictures is in talks with Boyle, who has in turn approached DiCaprio.

Just last week, we were still talking about a The Social Network reunion for Sony’s Jobs film, with director David Fincher signed on to direct a script already penned by Aaron Sorkin. That feel apart, apparently, because Fincher was reported to have demanded too much money and too much control over the marketing of the film. Once again, THR claimed that Fincher’s “excessive demands for compensation and control” were seen as “ridiculous” by the studio.

Fincher was reportedly demanding that Christian Bale be given the Steve Jobs role, but Bale was never officially attached to the project.

This Steve Jobs movie, whose concept was engendered around the same time as that other Steve Jobs movie starring Ashton Kutcher, has had a harder time hitting production. We learned about the film, which is based on Walter Isaacson’s bestselling biography, way back in 2011–and Sorkin only turned in his completed script a few months ago.

Other than this rumored role, DiCaprio is currently attached to Alejandro González Iñárritu’s next film, The Revenant. Boyle is signed on to direct Porno, based on a novel by Trainspotting‘s author Irvine Welsh.
